Child Safety

Window blinds have become increasingly popular as a choice for window dressing. At A Touch of Tradition, we offer a wide array of designs, styles, finishes, and operating methods to cater to diverse preferences.

However, our unwavering commitment to child safety is paramount across all our products and services.

While window blinds themselves are not inherently unsafe, unfortunate incidents involving children, often related to cords and chains, have occurred. Our hearts go out to those affected by such tragedies.

At A Touch of Tradition, we are dedicated to taking every possible precaution to ensure the blinds you select are safe for your children.

Since February 2014, regulations have mandated that all blinds manufactured and sold must comply with specific child safety standards (BS EN 13120). These European Standards are now legally binding in the UK, requiring all new blinds to be ‘safe by design’ or equipped with necessary child safety devices. Rest assured, all our blinds meet the rigorous requirements of BS EN 13120 in terms of both performance and safety.

These regulations address several critical safety measures:

- Blinds with loops are equipped during manufacturing with safety devices designed to break under pressure.
- Customers are provided with safety devices to secure blind cords to walls.
- Maximum cord and chain lengths and minimum fixing heights are mandated.

At A Touch of Tradition, we ensure that all blinds and shutters are installed in full compliance with these regulations. This ensures that your home is equipped with blinds that minimize risks and prioritize the safety of your children.
